VOLUNTEERS
We always
welcomes volunteers.
SHORT
TERM (1-4 weeks) and LONG
TERM VOLUNTEERS (4+ weeks)
Working under the supervision of centre
staff helping with our short break respite activity holidays
for children and adults with learning and multiple disabilities. As a volunteer you are expected to be a responsible employee
and to carry out duties and working hours - 5 days/week with
2 days off (may or may not be in the same week or consecutive,
but can be taken in a block by arrangement), as agreed with
the Centre Manager.
Full board (on working days) and lodging is provided plus
£30.00 pocket money per week.
There is a laundry on site for your use.
You must be completely independent, able and willing to look
after yourself in all respects during your stay and especially
on days off.
Whether you are a short or long term volunteer, you will
be an assistant to the group leaders and may be required to
help in all aspects of running of the activity holidays, activities
on and off site, general upkeep of centre facilities, domestic
duties, (cooking, cleaning, laundry etc). When assisting group leaders and participating in activities
your personal pleasure comes second (if at all!) to ensuring
the participation and enjoyment for each other member of the
group. This is NOT easy. It requires observation and attention
to ALL members of a group.
You are expected to display appropriate conduct, beneficial
to visitors and the Centre, both on and off-site. As a resident
you will be observed both on and off duty.
